About Harriet Argue

Harriet Argue was the owner of Truffles Café and Catering. She was also involved in menu development and catering at Madison's Bistro and Mediterra. We welcome her back to Dorothy Lane's Culinary Center to share her expertise with Greek Cuisine. Moving here from Los Angeles from a large Greek family, she started a California Deli Café. Her restaurants were known for their quality food, and innovative menus. Harriet was in the catering and restaurant business for over 30 years. She has taught cooking classes in the Dayton area for many years.

When it comes to flavorful and nutritive cuisine, we look to the Mediterranean diet. Paired with the month of May which has the goods with fresh herbs and vegetables, glorious warm weather, and sunny skies. Join Harriet Argue this evening for a spectacular meal beginning with Mediterranean Crudité. A light and flavorful soup with creamy Cannellini Beans and Spinach is a welcome second course. Beef Kapama with rich warm spices will be delicious served with Orzo Pasta and a spot-on red wine pairing. A crisp Peasant Salad and Chocolate Yogurt Cake with Chocolate Glaze will complete the meal. This menu will be paired with wine.

Summer’s here and the time is right for Harriet Argue’s fresh Mediterranean menu. We’ll start off with delicately sweet, chewy-textured Calamari, fried crisp for dipping in a creamy sauce. Refreshing juicy Watermelon and tangy Feta make a wonderful salad combination. Fresh summer Tomatoes and plump Grilled Shrimp are tossed with Orzo with Mediterranean seasonings and olive oil for a lovely alfresco dish. Buttery-rich Baklava Cheesecake will be the perfect sweet ending. This menu will be paired with wine.

Join us tonight for a Greek feast with a choice selection of Harriet Argue’s dishes. The first course is Greek Tyropita, crunchy, cheesy egg-filled phyllo triangles that make a wonderful do-ahead appetizer. An earthy and pungent salad of Beets, Horseradish, Feta, and crunchy Pecans will be followed by stunning Whole Fish Branzino—a flaky white fish with a delicate, slightly sweet taste. We'll serve it with Greek Potato Salad with Olive and Tomatoes. A traditional Greek favorite is golden and creamy Bougatsa for our sweet finish. This menu will be paired with wine.

Join Harriet Argue for a taste of Mediterranean sunshine as we dine on the pure, simple flavors of traditional Greek ingredients. Garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil make the Eggplant Dip with Whipped Feta appetizer a delightfully robust starter you’ll enjoy with Homemade Pita Crisps. A Greek Peasant Salad is a must during the season with the bounty of vibrant produce. Arni Souvlaki Lamb Kebabs are perfectly moist and succulent, served with a side of Middle Eastern Rice Pilaf with rich Greek Yogurt and Pita Bread. Greek Apple Pie is buttery and flaky with a sweet apple center. This menu will be paired with wine.
